The Autobahnbrücke, meaning ‘motorway bridge’, is one of the most recognizable structures in Salzburg, Austria. It's a modern highway bridge over the Salzach River, with distinctive curved steel girders in a bowstring arch set atop red piers. The massive structure is illuminated at night and provides an impressive view of the city at any time of the day. Additionally, it serves as a major passage for travelers coming in and out of the city. Although few may recognize it today, the bridge was designed by Austrian architect Johann Löscher. In the summertime, the Autobahnbrücke is especially popular among cyclists who can admire the views of the city and Salzach River, while having some refreshment at the nearby restaurant.
