
The Austrian National Library in Wien, Austria is a must-see for visitors to the city. Located in the center of Vienna, this national library is one of the oldest in the world and houses over 8 million books, as well as magazines, journals, manuscripts, and old documents. Formerly known as the Imperial Court Library, the Austrian National Library is housed in an iconic Baroque palace that was built in the 16th century. Its collections include works by some of Europe's greatest scholars such as Leibniz, Kant, and Goethe. Aside from the amazing selection of books, the library also houses art exhibits, musical instruments, and carries out preservation efforts of ancient manuscripts and documents. Visitors are welcome to explore the library's amazing collections and events, but access to some of its more rare collections is restricted.
