Augsburg Town Hall is a National Historic Monument and is the oldest civic building in Germany. Built in the 12th century, this Romanesque building still stands today. It is a symbol of Augsburg's status in medieval times as a major centre of trade, banking and administration. The facade is adorned with a red sandstone portal, which is framed by two columns and an arched doorway. Inside, the building features ornate stucco work, an open-air courtyard and a tower that offers spectacular views of the city. No matter when you visit, it’s worth taking a stroll around the building to admire its beauty and learn more about its history.
