Atomium
📍 From Below, Belgium
The Atomium in Brussels is an iconic building that has become an emblem of the city. It was built for the 1958 World's Fair, and remains a much-loved tourist attraction. It consists of nine large metal spheres, connected by tubes - representing the molecule of an iron crystal - connected by escalators and elevators, from which visitors can enjoy magnificent views across the city of Brussels. In each of the nine spheres, there is a permanent exhibition and public event space, and visitors can explore the interior of the Atomium by taking a ride on the elevators. The highest sphere of the Atomium features a restaurant, cafe, and gift shop. There are also several outdoor spaces, such as the 'Elevator Plaza' and the 'Stairwell Gardens'. The Atomium is open seven days a week and admission prices vary, depending on the time of the day and the time of the year; discounts are sometimes available for children.
