Towering over the Roman Forum, the Temple of Antoninus and Faustina was originally dedicated to Emperor Antoninus Pius’s wife, Faustina, and later to the couple together. Built in 141 AD and later consecrated as a church in the Middle Ages, its impressive Corinthian columns and well-preserved façade draw visitors looking to explore ancient architectural grandeur. Look for the marble frieze featuring griffins and the original bronze door. It’s easy to incorporate a visit here while exploring the nearby Palatine Hill and Arch of Titus. Remember to bring comfortable shoes, water, and a camera for capturing the detailed engravings.
