The Antiche Prigioni are Feltre’s historic prison spaces, in the hilltop old centre of this town in Veneto’s Belluno province. They reveal the judicial side of a place better known for Renaissance palaces and painted façades, adding the history of detention to the story told by its civic architecture. The enclosed scale of the prison rooms contrasts with the streets and squares outside, giving photographs a different perspective on the old town: not its public grandeur, but the spaces where authority restricted everyday life.
