Fairbanks, Alaska is the administrative hub of the interior region, situated in the Tanana Valley, near the junction of the Chena and Tanana Rivers. Originally a trading post and gold mining center, the city has remained an integral part of the state’s history. Home to the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the city’s cultural attractions include the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center, Alaska’s natural history museum, the University of Alaska Museum of the North, and the Pioneer Park Historical Center.
