📍 From Amanohashidate Viewland, Japan
Amanohashidate is one of Japan's scenic “Three Views,” cited by Emperor Konin as one of the most beautiful sights in the country. The sandbar of Amanohashidate frames a stunning view of pine trees, Maizuru Bay, and the mountains in the background. The view from either end of the sandbar is famously beautiful and the stroll along the beachside path connecting the two sites is a great way to appreciate the area. Along the coast of Amanohashidate, visitors can stop at the various shrines and temples, as well as a famous Buddhist temple, a museum, and a local Okuizumo sumo wrestling ring. The view from Amanohashidate across the bay is also one of the top three spots for night views in all of Japan, as the lights from the various ships, boats, and buildings that surround the bay come alive.
