📍 From Pfaffenstraße, Germany
The Ältesten Häuser von Neubrandenburg in Neubrandenburg, Germany are a series of twelve buildings that are all more than 400 years old. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, these buildings feature ornamental Renaissance and Baroque architecture, once common in east Germany. The complex includes several trading and artisan buildings, as well as a Rococo-style government building. Other special features include carved sandstone friezes, old market squares, and impressive baroque towers. Inside, visitors can take a look at the preserved interior décor and view archaeological artifacts and Renaissance tapestries. Though occurring after its construction, the complex also commemorates the historical event of German reunification in 1989. Visitors can take in this meaningful symbol of German unification while exploring this historic and picturesque pedestrian area.
