The handcrafted Baroque-styled Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) of Bamberg, Germany, is a sight to behold. Situated on a small island at the crossing of Regnitz and Main rivers, it boasts two towers of brick build. The Old Town Hall, listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list, has a rich history. Dating back to 14th century, it is set amidst a vibrant riverside town which is largely characterized by its cobblestone streets lined with quaint breweries and historic buildings. Inside the imposing Town Hall, visitors can admire its original furnishings from centuries passed, and the intricate wood carvings, paintings and stucco decorations. From the balconies, impressive views of the city’s skyline are offered. It is accessible via a bridge. The Old Town Hall is well worth a visit.
