Altes Fachwerkhaus in der City Erfurt is a beautiful and historical timbered house museum situated in the old town of Erfurt, the capital of Germany's Thuringia state. The building dates from 1448 and is a good example of the traditional Fachwerk architecture of the region. The museum tells a fantastic story through the display of artifacts from its various inhabitants, from its original wealthy merchant owners to impoverished families living in the house during the Nazi era. Inside visitors can find authentic furniture, clothing and memorabilia from each era. Although no photographs are allowed inside the museum, you can take excellent pictures of the city surrounding it, including the medieval rooftops of Erfurt’s old town with its intricate steeples, spires and towers. Don’t miss the impressive views of the Cathedral!
