The Alte Harburger Elbbrücke and the Kurz hinter dem Portal are historic bridges located in Hamburg, Germany. The Elbbrücke was built in 1841 and remains one of the oldest and most iconic bridges in the city, spanning the river Elbe from Harburg to Wilhelmsburg. The Kurz hinter dem Portal is a much more recent structure, completed in 2017. With its cantilevered walkways, large metal panels and bright lights, it has become a favorite spot for photographers looking for a modern architectural and urban perspective. Visitors can walk or bike along the Elbe bike path starting at the Elbbrücke and leading to Wilhelmsburg, an old industrial district where some of the best small cafes and bakeries can be found. From there, enjoy a stunning sunset view on the Kurz hinter dem Portal and take in the energy of the vibrant city.
