Alpsee
📍 From Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany
Alpsee and Neuschwanstein Castle in Schwangau, Germany are some of Bavaria's most breathtaking tourist destinations. Alpsee is a lake located to the east of Hohenschwangau village, with an altitude of 1864 m. Its source is the runoff from Mount Tegelberg, a mountain seen from all around the lake. The lake is encircled by a footpath, allowing adventurers to take in the pristine nature. The lake is next to the historic Neuschwanstein Castle, the castle of Bavarian fairy tales. The castle was built by King Ludwig II in 1868 and is the embodiment of royal grandeur. The castle offers guided tours of its corridors, where tourists can learn more about the history of this timeless landmark. On the grounds outside, visitors can glide up to the castle in a horse-drawn carriage or ascend the rugged Alps path reaching the famous Marienbrücke Suspension Bridge. All of this makes Schwangau a must-see destination for tourists and photographers alike.
