Alligator Reef Lighthouse
📍 United States
Alligator Reef Lighthouse is located two miles off shore in Ocean Township, United States. It is a striped iron tower which stands 156 feet and has a first order Fresnel lens. The lighthouse is said to be named after the schooner Alligator, which wrecked near there in 1822. It is an important navigational aid for anglers, boat captains and recreational boaters. The tower is only open to the public during special events and you can explore the gallery inside for some breathtaking views. This area is also a well known site for sports fishermen who enjoy snapper and grouper fishing. To access the lighthouse, visitors can take a boat or a kayak from one of the nearby launch sites. The reefs nearby are full of marine life, so keep your eyes open!
