Älgafallet
📍 Sweden
Älgafallet, called Elgåfossen on the Norwegian side, is a border waterfall near Bullaren in northern Bohuslän, where the stream marks part of the Sweden–Norway boundary. With a total drop of about 46 metres, it is widely regarded as Bohuslän’s highest waterfall. The water descends over dark, stepped rock into a wooded ravine, creating a strong contrast between white spray, moss-covered stone and dense forest. Its character changes sharply with rainfall and snowmelt: high water produces a broad, forceful cascade, while drier periods reveal more of the textured cliff face. Paths and a footbridge around the falls provide views that emphasize both the vertical drop and the unusual cross-border setting.
