Álftavatn Lake is a picturesque lake located in the east of the Icelandic Highlands, close to the municipality of Snæfell. Álftavatn Lake consists of two separate lakes, with the larger of the two being around 1,6 km wide. It is also fed by several small rivers that flow out of the lake. Álftavatn lake is also renowned for being a popular nature retreat and camping site during summer months. Visitors to Álftavatn Lake can enjoy a variety of activities, such as bird watching, fishing, boating and hiking. The lake is also renowned for its magnificent views and stunning panoramas. The surrounding area is also known for its abundance of wildflowers, providing beautiful scenery for photographers.
