📍 From Parliament Hill, Canada
The Alexandra Bridge is a steel cantilever bridge spanning the Ottawa River between central Ottawa, Ontario, and the Hull sector of Gatineau, Quebec. Opened in 1901 to carry railway and road traffic, it connects the two provinces at the heart of Canada’s capital region. Its exposed steelwork and repeating triangular trusses give the crossing a distinctive lattice silhouette, contrasting with the broad river below. Riverbank views place this industrial-era structure alongside the Gothic Revival skyline of Parliament Hill upstream, the National Gallery of Canada on the Ottawa side, and the curved forms of the Canadian Museum of History on the Gatineau shore.
