Alberobello is the small town in Puglia famous for its trulli — dense clusters of whitewashed, dry‑stone houses with conical limestone roofs that define the local townscape. These beehive-like structures reflect a vernacular building method: stacked limestone without mortar, topped with rounded pinnacles and often simple painted symbols on the cones, making rooflines read like a page of folk signs. Visually the town is striking for its repetition and texture: narrow lanes thread between low, bright walls while the dark, layered roof stones create strong graphic contrasts and curves against the sky. Two compact quarters concentrate the best groups of trulli, and short rises around town provide elevated views that reveal the forest of cones and the rhythm of chimneys and pinnacles. Some trulli are residences and others house shops or small museums; respect for private homes shapes how you move and frame shots.
