The African American History Memorial in Austin, United States, is a moving and powerful public art installation dedicated to honouring African Americans who have made significant contributions to Texas throughout its history. This beautiful memorial plaza is centered around the "This Is Who I Am" sculpture by Perkins-Hobson Art Group, featuring seven African American figures surrounded by 35 granite benches. Visitors can explore the many interactive educational displays that offer more insight on African American history in Texas through the centuries, including timelines, facts, and multimedia features. As a tribute, there is a moment of silence observed on the first Monday of every month at 12 noon. There are also a variety of programs and events that take place at the African American History Memorial throughout the year.
