Academia de Caballería

Academia de Caballería and Plaza de Zorrilla are located in Valladolid, one of the major cities of Castile and León in central Spain. The Academy of Cavalry, an 18th century building, has a beautiful typically Baroque facade, and it hosts a museum dedicated to the Spanish cavalry. The Plaza de Zorrilla, in front of the Academy of Cavalry, is named after the Spanish romantic poet and playwright José Zorrilla. The main feature of the plaza is the statue of Zorrilla, surrounded by the “Four Kinds” of Valladolid, a tribute to the four historical regions of the city: Castilla, León, Tierras Altas, and Tierras Bajas. There is also an interesting fountain by the sculptors García Salcedo located in the square. A visit to the Academia de Caballería and Plaza de Zorrilla is a great opportunity to admire two beautiful examples of Spanish culture and local history.
