Abd Al Bobo complex
📍 Uzbekistan
Abd Al Bobo Complex is a 19th century fortified mud-brick structure in the historic city of Khiva, Uzbekistan. Built by the Khan of Khiva in the 1840s, it ran along the historic Silk Road. The complex included two mosques, a madrassa and a caravanserai. The architects used mud brick and fired pots adorned with decorations to bring together diverse elements of an Islamic architectural style. The richly decorated facade of blue, lightest blue, and turquoise lintels and spandrels create a unique Islamic 'melon' style. The terrace fortress is also decorated with colored brick and terra cotta tiles. Today, visitors are awed by its splendid beauty and intricate details, including a Tatar-style minaret and an Iranian-style tower.
