Abbaye Saint Philibert is a beautiful former Benedictine monastery located in Tournus, France. Founded by Duke Robert of Burgundy in around 875, Abbaye Saint Philibert is a remarkable example of Romanesque architecture. Its gorgeous main portal, surrounded by two tall round towers, is quite a sight, while the three-storey building surrounding the courtyard is also impressive. Inside the complex, you will find beautiful vaults and a chapel surrounded by ancient arches. The abbey is well-preserved, and offers an amazing view of the countryside, as well as an insight in the history of the region. If you visit during the summer months, you can also attend concerts and other events that are organized in and around the abbey.
