Salar de Uyuni, located in the southern region of Bolivia, is the world's largest salt flat. It covers roughly 4,000 square miles of desert and salt deposits with a stunning reflective nature. Samples of the sodium and potassium-rich salt are harvested for export, with the region boasting six times more lithium reserves than any other country. The horizon is a fascinating illusion and the depth of perspective can be breath-taking for photographers at any angle. Many take on a bespoke tour to traverse the otherworldly terrain from the nearby Bolivian border town of Uyuni. Surreal rock formations such as Incahuasi Island (Isla Incahuasi) provide an ethereal quality, while the nearby Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve boasts incredible wildlife to explore by jeep.
