The 5 Lakes Walk links Stellisee, Grindjisee, Grünsee, Moosjisee and Leisee on the slopes above Zermatt, between the Blauherd and Sunnegga areas. Each lake frames a different alpine setting, from larch woods and rocky shores to the pale turquoise water of glacier-fed Moosjisee. Stellisee provides the route’s most recognizable composition: the Matterhorn rising beyond still water, sometimes mirrored almost perfectly at the surface. The trail also reveals changing angles on the peak, scattered mountain hamlets and broad views across the upper Matter Valley. Access commonly relies on the Sunnegga funicular and connecting mountain lifts, whose operation is seasonal.
