
Located in the city of Warszawa, Poland, the 1944 Monument celebrates the year-long Warsaw Uprising of 1944 against the German occupation. The monument, designed by Jan Kucz, is composed of sixty 3-meter tall crosses made of granite. The crosses represent the city's sixty districts, and each one is adorned with a plaque commemorating the suffering the residents of each district endured during the uprising, as well as the heroic efforts of individual soldiers.
