The iconic Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow is the epitome of the cultural history of Russia. One of the highlights of this majestic building is the "Operny Dom", or the Opera House. Built in 1825, it was redesigned in 1895 by engineer Pavel Tarasov with stunning architecture. Operny Dom currently serves as the main rehearsal stage for the Bolshoi Theatre. It holds 1000 spectators in the large auditorium and can accommodate an additional 600 in the adjacent loft theatre. Famous for its legendary ballets, operas and plays, Operny Dom attracts a large number of visitors from around the world. It offers four tiers of boxes and a mezzanine has been added for visitors who prefer to get an aerial view of the whole performance. Though most of the shows are in Russian, the delightful atmosphere makes the visit to Operny Dom worthwhile.
