Sultanahmet Camii, also known as the Blue Mosque, is one of Istanbul’s most iconic monuments and one of the largest mosques in Turkey. Located in the Alemdar district of Istanbul, it was built in the early 17th century under the patronage of Sultan Ahmed I. The exterior of the mosque is covered in intricate designs and decorations, and its six distinctive minarets make the mosque stand out from afar. Inside the mosque, visitors can admire its beautiful interior, with its walls and ceiling covered in large, hand-painted blue tiles - thus giving the mosque it's popular name.
