Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area

The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (SMMNRA) covers more than 500 sq mi of breathtaking terrain that includes magnificent mountains, beaches, meadows, canyons and roads for adventurers of all ages. The SMMNRA stretches from Point Mugu State Park in Ventura County to Griffith Park in Los Angeles, making its way along the urban landscape of LA and beyond. The majority of SMMNRA is located in the LA county and is home to a wide variety of mammals, birds, reptiles and plants. A variety of activities such as hiking, running, biking, and horseback riding can be enjoyed here, and views of the city, hills, canyons and the pacific ocean can be admired. Featuring a handful of picturesque parks, the SMMNRA offers breathtaking views, and is a great place to observe wildlife and experience nature.
