La Tour des Finances, or the Financial Tower, is an iconic landmark of Liège in Belgium. Its history is closely linked to the economy of the city, being constructed in the late 1920s to accommodate the funds of the National Bank of Belgium after WWI. The design is classical French Renaissance. The iron-fronted base houses the offices of the bank while the upper floors are decorated with decorative bartizans and a lantern. For the best photograph, the best time of day to capture it is during the early morning or late evening, when the warm sunlight gives it a beautiful golden hue. A great spot for photographers is the Place des Déportés, an area in the waterfront of the Meuse river which provides a great view of the Tour and everything else in the city center.
