Church of Our Lady before Týn

The Church of Our Lady before Týn is one of the most iconic historical spots in the heart of Prague's Old Town (Staré Město). Standing in Prague’s Old Town Square, this gothic church was built in the 14th century and served as the main religious centre for many centuries. It is known for its two spires and its overall ornate design. This grandiose structure is perhaps most impressive at night—its lights illuminating the sky and the spires distinct against the darkness. Visitors will be impressed by the golden-on-black mosaics that adorn the church’s exterior. The interior is just as impressive, with ornate Gothic furnishings and bright frescoes that reach towards the main altar. The tomb of Tycho de Brahe–the famous 16th century astronomer–is also located along the church’s walls.
