Sakurada Tatsumi Yagura
📍 Japan
Sakurada Tatsumi Yagura is an underground bunker and one of the most well-preserved wartime buildings in Tokyo. It was built in 1942 during World War II as a headquarters for air defense operations. The bunker is connected to the nearby Imperial Palace through a secret tunnel. It has four levels underground, with the deepest floor reaching 12 meters, making it a popular spot for urban explorers and photographers. Entrance to the bunker is free, but visitors must make a reservation beforehand. The bunker is open from 9:30am to 5:00pm and is closed on Mondays and Fridays. Photography is allowed, but flash and tripods are not permitted. The bunker also has a small museum displaying artifacts and photographs from the war. Visitors should be prepared to climb a steep set of stairs and wear comfortable shoes as the bunker is quite humid and can be slippery.
