Cape Horn Lighthouse

Cape Horn Lighthouse is an iconic Chilean landmark located at the southernmost tip of South America. Standing atop a lofty cliff, the 89-foot-tall tower rises above the tumultuous waters of the Pacific Ocean and has been kept in operation to let the seafarers know that they are entering the strait of Magellan and rounding the cape. This feat of engineering was declared a National Monument in 1978. A small chapel dedicated to sailors who perished around Cape Horn is located on the premises. Visitors can also find a pillar commemorating the first passage of the famous yacht "Gladan" around Cape Horn in 1937. With its gorgeous views, the lighthouse is an ideal spot for tourist photos.
