Valle del Jerte

Valle del Jerte is a beautiful valley located in the northwest of Spain, just south of the city of Plasencia in the province of Cáceres. This region of Spain has long been an agricultural epicenter and is home to some of the most stunning landscapes in the country. The area is known for its cherry blossom trees which are the stars of the valley in springtime.

Valle del Jerte is most commonly explored by hiking. There are many great trails here, ranging from easy strolls next to the river to more demanding hikes around the hills of the valley. The summit of Monte Valarache offers the best views of the valley and the surrounding countryside. You can also take a stroll along the river and find some picturesque places for swimming and sunbathing during warmer days. The area is well-served by local restaurants and you can taste some of the traditional dishes from Cáceres like garlic soup or the famous “Cocido Extremeño”. The valley also offers some great spots to visit like the Castle of Granadilla, the bridge of La Piedra and the impressive Roque Colosar. These places of interest are easy to access and make Valle del Jerte a great place to travel and explore the great landscapes of Extremadura.
