
The Sonnenborgh Observatory (‘Sun Tower’) in Utrecht, Netherlands, is a historic building and monument located in the city center. It was initially build as part of Utrecht's city walls in 1628, and was used through the centuries as an observatory, a museum, and an archive. Today, it is a popular public observatory and part of the Utrecht University. It provides educational activities and organizes public stargazing events, with its telescope and beautiful celestial displays. It houses several of the oldest astronomical instruments and features a rich collection of books, manuscripts and various artefacts related to the field of astronomy. Visitors can explore the history of astronomy, learn how to use the instruments in the observatory and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, surrounded by the beauty and peace of nature.
