Santa Iglesia Catedral Primada de Toledo

The Santa Iglesia Catedral Primada de Toledo is a historic Roman Catholic cathedral located in Toledo, Spain. Built in 1227, the cathedral stands out for its blend of elements of Gothic and Mudéjar styles of architecture. The 124-meter tower is a strong symbol of the city’s skyline. The vast, circular interior of the cathedral is awe-inspiring. The main altarpiece of the church includes paintings depicting the life and martyrdom of St. Leandro, while other stunning works of art include the altarpiece of San Pedro, crafted in silver and the altarpiece of the Virgen de la Antigua. Many different relics of Christian martyrs are also found in the cathedral, with highlights including Christ’s cross, a shawl belonging to San Leandro and the tomb of Eugene III. On the left corner of the cloister is the magnificent painting of The Transfiguration, attributed to El Greco.
