Puente Hospital

Puente Hospital is a major historical site in the autonomous community of Murcia in Spain. It is located on an archaeological site and was built between the end of the 9th century and the beginning of the 10th century. It is one of the oldest monuments in Murcia and is the last remaining arch of a Muslim fortress. Its impressive medieval arches are made of ashlar stone and are very well conserved. Puente Hospital is considered one of the most beautiful bridges in Spain and has been declared Monument of Cultural Interest by the Murcian Government since 1997. From the bridge there are splendid views over the city and its surroundings. There is a lookout point as well as a small chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Pilar. Various recreational activities such as walking, hiking and cycling can be done along the banks of the Segura River. There are also numerous cultural and gastronomic events held in the area.
