
Mt. Rainier National Park, located in Washington State, covers an area of over 235,000 acres of subalpine and alpine ecosystems. The centerpiece of the park is the 14, 411 foot tall volcano, Mt. Rainier. Visitors to Mt. Rainier National Park are drawn to its grandeur, its magnificent lakes, rivers, and waterfalls, as well as its impressive glaciated peaks and valleys. There is an abundance of activities to enjoy in the park including backpacking, camping, limestone cave exploration, and picnicking. The park has over 260 miles of hiking trails and two historic buildings, the historic Paradise Inn and the stunning Longmire Historic District, which welcome visitors year-round. Popular sites to explore include Sunrise Point and the Mowich Lake area, where you can observe wildlife such as deer, elk, and mountain goats, or take in the stunning views of the mountain's glaciers. The park offers plenty of opportunities for photographers to take outstanding landscape photos, as well as spot wildlife.
