
The Bakkersmolen is a historical windmill located in Essen, Belgium. It was built in 1775 and was in use until the early 1950s. Today, it is a museum depicting the history of windmills and their role in the agriculture of this area. Visitors are able to observe up close and learn about the mechanics of a windmill and the processes used in grinding grains. Inside, exhibits feature authentic tools and machines from the period. There is also a display about wind turbine technology. Outside, the windmill's thatch roof and brick walls are in excellent condition. There are also scenic gardens and a pond, making it an enjoyable place for a leisurely stroll. At night, the Bakkersmolen is illuminated, giving it a beautiful glow.
