The Salt Mountains

The Salt Mountains (Kopalnia Soli) in Wieliczka and Bochnia, Poland, are a must-see destination while in Poland. Located just outside of Krakow, the area is home to an ancient salt mine that has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1978. The Salt Mountains were built in the early 13th century and have been in use ever since. Touring the mine gives visitors an insight into the architecture, equipment and history of the mining industry in Poland. There are several different levels of the mine, the most popular being the ceremonial chamber. Take time to explore the unique underground lake, chapel, statues, galleries and chambers.
