Sanatorium Imereti

Sanatorium Imereti is a unique spa and health resort located in the city of Tskaltubo, Georgia. Built in the 1930s, it is one of the world's oldest health facilities of its kind. Sanatorium Imereti was the first regional electric powered spa and its liquid – spring Natural Mineral Water – was recognized as one of the world’s best therapeutic balneological resource in the 20th century. The three main buildings, including the Internaly Institute, the Residence of the President of Georgia, and the Institute of Neurosurgery, are all turned into an old Soviet resort, complete with a grand swimming pool and tennis court. The architecture of the buildings is eye-catching, with swooping rounded roofs and large windows that let in plenty of light. Inside the sprawling main building, guests can find a cafe, a fitness centre, a sauna, a steam bath and multiple spa treatments, all in traditional Russian style.
