Saint Paul de Mausole

St.Paul de Mausole is a 12th century monastery located in the town of St. Remy de Provence, France, renowned for its association with artist Vincent Van Gogh. The area is also home to centuries-old olive groves and vineyards and is a popular location for visitors to gain an insight into the french Provencal way of life. Inside the monastery complex is found the St. Paul Asylum, a mental hospital where van Gogh voluntarily confined himself for 10 months. Visitors can explore the hospital and chapel, both of which were painted by Van Gogh, as well as the gardens and olive grove. The monastery store offers soaps, oils and other health products made from local ingredients. St. Remy de Provence itself is a bastion of history, culture and heritage, with many shops, cafes and galleries.
