Predjama Castle

Predjama Castle is a spectacular primeval Renaissance castle situated within a cave of the historical region of Inner Carniola near Postojna, in southwestern Slovenia. Predjama Castle is an example of the unique architecture entwined with its dramatic backdrop. The majestic 13th century castle was built within a 123 metre-high cliff. Although its origins are traced back 7 centuries, much of the current structure is the result of a renovation in the 16th century by the then owner, the knight Erazem Lueger. Some of the rooms of the castle are even connected to hidden tunnels and secret passages. Inside, you can explore the old Knights Hall, the chapel and the prison. On the outside you can enjoy the view of the terrace and the drawbridge. Its gorgeous surrounding nature provides a perfect destination for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling.
