Kirkjufell Mountain

Kirkjufell Mountain, or Church Mountain, is an iconic 463m conical mountain located in Grundarfjörður, Iceland. Its distinct shape makes it one of the most photographed spots in Iceland. It is located near the coastal town of Grundarfjörður in the Snæfellsnes Peninsula; surrounded by beautiful landscapes where you can find waterfalls and a beach on two sides, perfectly framing Kirkjufell. The mountain can be seen from Grundarfjörður nearby. Also close is the waterfall of Kirkjufellsfoss, which photographers favor for stunning compositions. If you walk around the mountain you'll be able to see plenty of wildlife and the other attractions in the area including rocky shores and lava fields. For the more adventurous travelers, there is a hiking trail up the mountain (nb. not recommended in the winter due to slippery snow and ice).
