Horizontobservatorium

The Horizontobservatorium in Herten, Germany is a popular attraction for visiting sky-gazers, birdwatchers and amateur astronomers. This observatory is the oldest of its kind in Germany and is the home of a 40 cm (16 inch) optical telescope, with a field diameter of 4 metres. The telescope is specially designed to have a large field of view and its position on the top of a tall hill allows for stunning views of natural landscapes around its vicinity. It is the perfect place to view stars and the moon. The building itself is also a great attraction. An interesting feature of the observatory is its unique dome design, which allows for a higher level of humidity for better visibility.
