Hiroshima Castle, also known as Carp Castle, is an iconic landmark located in Hiroshima, Japan. It was originally built in 1589 and was destroyed in 1945 by the atomic bomb. It was restored in 1958, and now stands as a symbol of the city's resilience. The castle is made up of several gates, turrets, and inner and outer citadels. It is one of the few castles that are still standing in Japan. Around the castle, you will find a beautiful park with wide moats, ponds, bridges and cherry trees. The grounds feature many artifacts, documents and photographs to explore the history of the castle and the city's past. The castle is open to the public and offers a variety of activities including: guided tours, sword-fighting tournaments, seasonal events and more.
