Grossglockner is Austria's highest mountain, at 3,798 meters, and the highlight of the scenic Grossglockner High Alpine Road. This popular drive winds along 48 kilometers of wild alpine landscape, reaching an altitude of 2,504 metres, and featuring 36 hairpin bends. Along the way you'll find numerous breathtaking photo ops, from desolate landscapes carved from glacier ice, to postcard-perfect lakes and valleys, to huge, soaring waterfalls. Take a break at well-equipped rest stops; enjoy a lunch of regional specialties; and visit the nearby Alpenhaus, with its picture-perfect views.
