Fontana dell'Amenano

Fontana dell'Amenano is an ancient fountain in Catania, Italy. Dating back at least 500 years, it is one of the most impressive symbols of the city. Built in a traditional Sicilian Baroque style, the fountain consists of two large stone basins, one of which overlooks the city of Catania and the other facing the Church of Saint Agatha. The upper part of the fountain is decorated with an intricate crest and two majestic stone lions, which guard the fountain day and night. Although the exact origins of the fountain remain a mystery, it is assumed that the famous epigram at the base of the fountain was written by a local poet in the late 17th century. Regardless, the fountain has become a beloved icon of Catania and a unique expression of its culture and history.
