Felsformation

Located near Berdorf in Luxembourg is one of the most intriguing geological formations in Europe. Felsformation is a combination of three types of multicolored sandstone that has been eroded by the elements to form an extraordinary set of boulders, towers and walls. The site's strange shapes and colors, which range from oranges to yellows to grays, offer a visual treat and make it a photographer's paradise. The remarkable structure is made up of three main spots – the main boulder field, the rock wall, and the rock top – each with its own unique characteristics. The rock wall comprises three tiers, the first two extending from the lowest point and the last stretching to the highest point. There are plenty of opportunities for hikers to explore the breathtaking landscape, where you can find not only the formations but also an abundance of wildlife and plant life. There are two trails to choose from: a leisurely 2km and a more mountainous 5 km taking around 3 hours. The felsformation also offers one of the best sunset views in Europe, and with its abundance of color and forms, it's an ideal spot for amateur and professional photographers.
