The Brandenburg Gate is the iconic symbol of Berlin and of Germany. This 18th century neoclassical triumphal arch stands at the western end of the city's grand avenue "Unter den Linden." It is one of Berlin's most visited landmarks, and was a symbol of German reunification after the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989. The Quadriga sculpture of a chariot drawn by four horses, located atop the arch, symbolizes the power of peace.
