Wittekindsburg

Wittekindsburg is a castle ruin in Porta Westfalica, Germany. The castle dates back to the 8th century and was once a stronghold for Westphalian tribes. Today, the ruins of the castle can be seen from the nearby A1 motorway, and from across the Weser river. Visitors can explore the ruins, stroll around the grounds, and take in the gorgeous views of both the river and the rolling countryside. The castle is open to visitors, who can take a self-guided tour and hike to the top of the castle wall. Be sure to bring sturdy walking shoes! There is also a museum nearby, with artifacts and stories about the castle's history.
